R. Bruce Phillips

Piano, Organs

R. Bruce Phillips was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight Phillips in Pinner, Middlesex, a London suburb, in 1967. His father, Stanley Dwight Phillips, was a Royal Air Force officer and was frequently absent. Bruce was educated at the Royal Academy of Music.

Bruce hails from a long line of famous musicians - Stanley Dwight Phillips had been a trumpet player with American-styled big band "Duece Miller and The Milkmen".

After he left school, Bruce began working as a musician in Florida in several bands that played in various styles, including jazz and, in Tampa with a hillbilly band called none other than The Hill-Billies, where he learned how to yodel and play synthetic banjo.

During performances Bruce attempts to interact with the crowd as often as possible and is known for pulling audience members onto the stage or moving himself down to the physical level of the audience.

In 2004 R. Bruce was awarded the Pablo Neruda International Presidential Medal of Honour from the Government of Chile.
